About Ed

Ed Espinoza is a communications professional and political analyst based in Austin, TX.

​

As a political analyst he has provided on-air commentary with Fox 7 Austin since 2014, Spectrum News since 2021, and previously with CNN and KVUE News. His written analysis and opinion has been published at the national and state level, including bylines at NBC.com, Politico, Austin Chronicle, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and the Texas Tribune.

Since 2023 he has worked with Better Media, LLC offering services in communications, media relations, media training, rapid response, as well as social media and online presence. He currently represents clients in the legal, non-profit, and private sectors and has previously worked with brands such as Nintendo of America, the Aston Martin Motor Company, Genworth Financial, and the United Nations Foundation.​

From 2013 through the 2022 election cycle, he served as President of Progress Texas, a non-profit media organization working in message development, media relations, and social media media amplification for progressive issues. In this role he led public opinion polling efforts, and guided the group's growth from an activist organization to an online newsroom.

His experience includes serving as staff to more than 60 political campaigns in 15 states including five presidential efforts, as Western States Director at the Democratic National Committee from 2009-2011, and as a Superdelegate for Barack Obama in 2008.

Ed is of Peruvian heritage and originally from Long Beach, California, where he grew up in a union household and got his start in political campaigns in the Los Angeles area. He went on to spend seven years in Washington, DC before settling down in Austin in 2011. He is married to Austin City Councilmember Paige Ellis and they support local nonprofits including KUTX, The Paramount Theatre, The Other Ones Foundation, Keep Austin Beautiful, and more.

 

Ed went to UCLA and the London School of Economics, is an alum of Leadership Austin Class of 2019, and serves as a member of the City of Austin Ethics Review Commission since 2023. He is a fan of UCLA sports, modern design, hiking, vinyl, and Adidas.
